Carrots are rich in beneficial properties for health. Antioxidants, skin and view friendly, they offer many other benefits. When we think of carrots it comes to mind the most common variety of orange but in fact there are different colors such as white, purple, red and yellow. Raw carrots cultivated in ancient Egypt and in Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan were purple carrots. Only later, in 1700 in the Netherlands, orange carrots were selected.
Carrots are known for their high content of beta carotene, an antioxidant compound that counteracts the production of free radicals responsible for cell aging. Also in the body it is converted to vitamin A, which is essential for many biological functions such as, for example, the view, the cell differentiation, the development of bones.
